October 2nd 2014. Pick of the Day.
New York City's premiere resource for classic film screenings in the metropolitan area. Offering reviews, recommendations, venues and a host of links keeping classic film and the silver screens alive.

For those of you who only read these posts sparingly, and I know your names b'gawd, a reminder that these headers are gonna be a might trim for a week or so, as I'm also providing daily coverage of the 52nd annual NYFF, which roughly translates to the New York Film Festival for those of you who can't bear acronyms.
So post haste, ongoing series today include the Tennessee Williams trib at Film Forum, Joseph L. Mankiewicz: The Essential Iconoclast and Revivals at the Film Society, Acteurism: The Emergence of Ann Sheridan, 1937-43 at MoMA, Retro Metro at BAM Cinématek, and Chelsea Classics at the BowTie Chelsea Cinemas. The mishegoss be thus;

Today's Pick? The Joe Mank retrospective, ya knuckleheads! Ya think I'm killin' myself for nothing? Three films can be had for one specially-ticketed price this day, and the simple fact that last night's Pick, the Oscar-minting classic ALL ABOUT EVE, serves as centerpice to the day's festivities seals the deal. Okay! So we'll have two bumpy nights in a row! This is a crime where exactly?

Back tomorrow with a brand new Pick, til then safe, sound, make sure the guests are as domesticated as the gin.

P. S. We're swiftly returning to the winter climate, and believe it or not some of our fellow NY'ers have still yet to be made whole in the wake of the 2012 storm. Should you be feeling charitable please visit the folks at OccupySandy.net, follow their hammer-in-hand efforts to restore people's lives, and donate/volunteer if you have the inclination and availability. Be a collective mensch, Stockahz!
