Happy Thanksgiving from Nitrate Stock!

I've much to give thanks for this year. The programmers who create the screenings and series I'm grateful to follow, cover and attend, cats like Bruce Goldstein at Film Forum, David Schwartz at Museum of the Moving Image, and Caryn Coleman and Max Cavanaugh at the Nitehawk Cinema. The publicists and PR personnel, like Jenny Jediny at FF, Tomoko Kawamoto at MoMI, David Ninh at the Film Society. The movie pals I'm richer for knowing and sharing the experience with, peeps like Will McKinley, Aurora, Joel Williams, Pamela Fallon Thornley, and Paula Guthat.

Especially though, I must reserve a particular gratitude for the people who help me maintain this site, for Adam Honen, for Ingrid Montealegre, and, of course, for the webmaster himself Mike Davis.

For this family, and of course for my additional close freinds, and for my priceless and precious immediate family, my blood, I'm thankful, not merely on this day, but all days. It's just nice to get the individual occasion to declare it.

To all of you who read this site routinely or casually, who check the calendar and think it a valuable resource for the repertiry film community in NYC, who've made my efforts these last 2 1/2 years seem even slightly less than futile, my thanks today. I hope you have a safe and wonderful time spent with your loved ones. But remember; I called dibs on the dark meat. Back off, fiends.

My Pick today, should you avail yourself of all familial carving obligations in time, is the Film Society's screening of Roman Polanski's TESS, the kick-off to their Nastassja Kinski retro, which finds the lady herself in attendance and participating in a post-film Q&A moderated by her one-time director James Toback.
