Today's Pick? Well, I gotta admit freely that I'm probably not kicking myself awake for the early screenings of Ford's SEARCHERS and Mamoulian's JEKYLL/HYDE, no matter how much I love both films, and Gordon's radical and hysterical take on Lovecraft's most-celebrated Miskatonic alum screens on a fairly regualr basis, not that there's a single thing wrong with that. Today really comes down to a contest between a pair of foreign masters, and as I just very recently hoisted Wojciech Has uponst me shoulders, I feel like a filmmaker from a clime nearly halfway roundst tha globe is deserving of some love this day, especially due to the fact that a double bill of his best unspools. Full disclosure: I've yet to view his work firsthand. Tonight, I hope to correct this oversight.

Kon Ichikawa's HER BROTHER and AN ACTOR'S REVENGE unspool in magnificent new 35mm iterations tonight as part of a trib to the director from the Japan Society. I hope to pass the trials in order to be worthy of attending this screening. Which, y'know, pretty much boils down to whether I grab a pair of tiks this elusive from the box office. Hey, you decide which is the more rigorous process.
