Gay marriage legalized? Confederate flag being run down the nation's flagpoles? A nuclear deal potentially reached with Iran? The real story is being buried here, people! Berke Breathed has revived BLOOM COUNTY after 25 years! And now he's got no more material to work with!!! Curse you, progress!!!
Okay, let me first get adjusted to the fact that a whole week of July's sunny, muggy goodness has already slipped by. Seems like just yesterday for the last 46 years I was bitching about Winter and pining for picnic weather. Or picnicking for pining weather. Slow down, Summer '15, let's get to know each other why don't we?
Hallo Stockahz! Your summer proceeds pleasingly apace mehopes. We in this burg have had much to be thankful for thus far; mild temps, pleasant park sojourns, heck even the rain's been welcome. Not just aesthetically
either, but as replenishment to our thirsty reservoirs. We can be grateful for all these amenities, but really we're just basking and rolling around in and getting filthy with our beloved rep film scene, which now expands to screens unbounded by four walls. Freedom, sumbitchaz!
Brevity prevails, Stockahz. The good news, though, is that the July calendar looms, the finishing touches still to be placed, and the month is chock full of rep film nuttiness both indoors and out! As always, the pop-up window wimwammery goes live the morning of the 1st, so be sure to check back early tomorrow for the full rundown. And now, to this month's end.
Continuing series this day include the 10-week trib to master filmmaker Yasujiro Ozu at IFC Center, the slowly winding-down, for reals this time, Apu Trilogy at Film Forum, and the halfway mark-met Glorious Technicolor: From Eastman House and Beyond at MoMA. The kinetic granular gripery be thus;
